WEDNESDAY 7TH AUGUST 2024
TOPIC: WHATSOEVER YOU CAN’T CHANGE, LEARN TO MANAGE IT. STOP BEING HARD ON YOURSELF.
TEXT: Luke 10:41
Martha, Martha the Lord replied, you worry and upset about many things…Why?
To her, everything must be serious.
This was the Lord Himself cautioning Martha, who was even preparing a meal for Him.
At a time, she began to complain about her sister Mary not helping her, but Jesus told her that her problem was not Mary, but her attitude about life and things.
Thus He said to her, “You worry about many things.” That means your problem was not Mary’s attitude but your lifestyle of worry.
The Lord was telling Martha to choose a simple life—a life of peace and not of worry and complaint.
Do you worry like Martha?
Do you complain about things that make you feel sad? What people have done to you?
You may say, “Pst Chris, if these things are settled, then I will stop being sad and complaining.”
The problem with us is not who offended us but who and what we have chosen to be offended at.
Choose to live a simple life. Sometimes, allow things the way they are.
Tolerate people’s weaknesses and know that people are also tolerating you.
You are not perfect; therefore, don’t expect people around you to be. And if you want people around you to be, start first and live by example, then they will follow.
In our text, Jesus told Martha, “Your problem is not really what you are complaining at, but you worry and get angry about many things when they are not the way you want them.”
Jesus warned her against trying to do everything now.
Are you like that? Don’t frustrate your spirit with issues around you.
Martha frustrated her spirit; therefore, little things would make her angry.
One could only imagine what Mary, her sister, would have gone through living with her.
Hear me: when you shout because the plates are not washed, the house not swept, and clothes unwashed, it is not because there is a problem but because you have an unsettled mind. Like Martha, you worry about many things.
To worry about many things is to have an angry spirit or a troubled heart, and Jesus warns against that.
Choose to be happy. Smile and laugh at little gestures and express your joy about events, things, and people.
Most times, ignore people’s mistakes and overlook things.
CONFESSION:
I have a calm and joyful spirit.
I am not like Martha. Never worried or upset at many things.
I have a joyful heart, and with it, I see and relate with others.
